DGUV V3 Home office and teleworking
special case
The world of work is undergoing fundamental change. Teleworking and mobile working are no longer the exception, but an integral part of modern corporate structures. However, with flexibility comes increased demands on occupational safety. Responsibility for legally mandated occupational safety does not end at the factory gate. Even in the home office, monitors, laptops, power supplies, and company cell phones are subject to the German Occupational Safety and Health Act (BetrSichV) and must be inspected regularly.
Elektroprüfung Guru is your specialist partner for legally compliant DGUV V3 inspections (formerly BGV A3) in your home office. We offer innovative concepts, discreet inspection technicians, and above all: affordable flat rates nationwide for complete cost transparency.
Why is the DGUV V3 inspection mandatory in home offices?
Many employers ask themselves: “Do I really have to have equipment checked that is located at the employee’s home?” The clear answer is: Yes.
As soon as you, as an employer, provide an employee with electrical equipment, you remain responsible for its safety. The DGUV Regulation 3 (Accident Prevention Regulation for Electrical Systems and Equipment) does not distinguish between the office in the company building and the study in a private home. The DGUV V3 inspection serves to prevent accidents, cable fires, and personal injury caused by defective electronics.
Two paths to verified security
Our services are available nationwide—we are there for you in all regions and cities throughout Germany.
Option A: Home visit
(full service)
Our qualified test engineers will visit your employees at their home offices at a time that suits them. The testing is carried out discreetly, cleanly, and quickly. We test portable equipment such as monitors, docking stations, laptops, power supplies, printers, and multiple socket strips on site.
Option B: Collection dates
(budget solution)
Bundling is particularly cost-effective. Your employees bring the devices to be tested (e.g., laptops and power supplies) to central meetings, summer parties, or to the company on specified days. Our inspectors then carry out the DGUV inspection collectively on site. This eliminates travel costs to private homes and enables us to offer you extremely affordable flat rates.

DGUV V3 inspection intervals: How often must inspections be carried out?
A common search topic is the “DGUV V3 inspection intervals table PDF.” Many companies are looking for a fixed list, but the reality of accident prevention regulations is more flexible and based on a risk assessment. Nevertheless, there are guidelines for DGUV V3 inspections regarding how often they should be carried out.
Guidelines for repeat inspections (mobile equipment)
Planning reliability is essential for companies. We consistently avoid hidden costs caused by unclear “per device” billing for small quantities. With our flat-rate pricing model, you know exactly what the security of your teleworking workstations will cost you in advance.
For offices and office-like environments—and therefore also for home offices—the following intervals are generally considered a guideline:
- Office equipment (PC, monitor, copier): Often every 2 years (if the error rate is < 2% in previous inspections).
- Connection cables, extension cables: Recommended every 1 to 2 years, as the mechanical stress can be higher here.
- Workshop area/construction sites: Significantly shorter intervals (3 to 6 months) – but usually not relevant in home offices.
The exact intervals are determined by the responsible electrician based on their professional judgement. To be on the safe side, start with an annual inspection or every 24 months. We will be happy to advise you on determining the intervals so that you neither under- nor over-inspect.
Difference: DGUV V3, DGUV V4, and BGV A3
There is often confusion about terminology. Why do you find terms such as BGV A3, DGUV A3 or DGUV Regulation 4?
- BGV A3: This is the old name for the German Social Accident Insurance Regulation. It has been transferred to the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) regulations. In terms of content, it is largely identical to the current DGUV V3.
- DGUV Regulation 3: The currently valid accident prevention regulation for commercial enterprises. It is the main keyword and the standard.
- DGUV Regulation 4: This regulation applies specifically to public institutions (municipalities, schools, authorities). The technical inspection steps are identical to the DGUV 3 inspection, but there are organizational differences in the administrative regulation.
Regardless of whether your company needs to be inspected according to DGUV 3 or DGUV 4, Elektroprüfung Guru has the relevant expertise and certified inspectors for both areas.
